carrick-a-rede rope bridge

carrick-a-rede rope bridge

The bridge was originally erected by fishermen so that they could check their salmon nets but as the fishing declined the bridge made way for the passing visitor wishing to face the challenge of the 24m deep and 18m wide chasm that lies beneath.

It is located in an area of unparalleled beauty with stunning views of Rathlin and neighbouring Scottish islands. The 1km path to the bridge provides an exhilarating coastal walk. It is home to different flora and fauna and unique geology. It is a must see site for bird watchers as well as those seeking a thrill. The safety specifications are of the highest standards but just remember once across the bridge, there is only one way back, can you face the challenge?
